Our buying guides exist to help you spend well on the appliances and cookware an Indian kitchen actually uses. This is how we decide what to recommend.
Two kinds of review, always labelled
Every guide and review states which of these it is based on, so you know how much weight to give it:
- Hands-on tested: we have used the product ourselves for real cooking, and we describe what we did with it and for how long.
- Research-based: we have not used the product ourselves. The assessment comes from manufacturer specifications, warranty terms and the patterns in verified-buyer feedback.
We never describe research as personal experience.
How we choose what to cover
We focus on products sold in India, in the exact model and variant you can buy here, across realistic price bands. We start from the cooking job, such as grinding idli batter or pressure-cooking dal for four, and work out which features matter for it.
What we check
- Specifications from the manufacturer, checked against the exact model number.
- Safety and certification, including BIS (ISI) marking where it is mandatory, such as for pressure cookers.
- Warranty length, what it covers and the availability of service in India.
- Recurring problems reported by buyers, such as jar leaks, motor issues or coating wear.
- Ease of cleaning, storage and everyday use.
Prices
Prices change daily. Where we mention a price, we show the date we checked it and the retailer. We do not show invented discounts, countdown timers or “lowest price” claims. Always check the current price with the retailer before buying.
Independence
- Brands cannot pay for a place in a guide or for a better verdict.
- If a brand sends us a product for free, we say so in the review.
- Commission rates never decide what we recommend. Some retailer links may earn us a commission; see our affiliate disclosure.
- We do not publish star ratings or “best overall” claims we cannot support with evidence.
Keeping guides current
Each guide shows when it was last checked. When a model is discontinued, a better option appears or a recommendation no longer holds, we update the guide and say what changed.
