How we test recipes

A recipe is only useful if it works in your kitchen. These are the standards every recipe on Cooking with Siddhi has to meet before it is published.

Cooked in a home kitchen

Recipes are developed and cooked in a home kitchen, using the equipment most Indian households already have: a pressure cooker, a kadai, a tawa, a mixer grinder and a regular gas stove. If a recipe needs anything more specialised, we say so at the top.

Cooked again, exactly as written

Before a recipe goes live, it is cooked from start to finish following only the written steps. Anything that was unclear, missing or done differently in practice is corrected before publishing.

Measures you can trust

  • Ingredients are listed in standard cups and spoons, with grams for anything where accuracy matters, such as flour for baking or sugar for sweets.
  • Preparation time, cooking time and total time are the times we actually observed, not optimistic guesses.
  • Servings reflect normal home portions.

Swaps and variations, clearly marked

When we suggest a substitution, we tell you whether we have tried it. Untested ideas are labelled as suggestions so you know what to expect.

No health claims

We do not make medical or health claims about recipes. Nutrition information is shown only when it has been calculated from a stated source, and it is an estimate, not dietary advice.

Honest photography

Photos shown with a recipe are of that recipe. Some general section images on the site are licensed stock photography; these are never presented as a specific recipe of ours.

When something needs fixing

If a recipe does not work for you, tell us in the comments on that recipe. We review reported problems, cook the recipe again where needed and note the date whenever a recipe is meaningfully updated.
